The Impact of Dating Apps In The Atlantic, The Power Of Being Done and More Of What Matt’s Writing

Recently, Matt has been featured in several publications, including, most significantly, a major article in The Atlantic on the impact of dating apps. Entitled “The 5 Years That Changed Dating,” the article goes in-depth on how apps like Tinder, Bumble and others have influenced how couples meet, as well as how Matt approaches couples therapy. Matt was also quoted on the emotional impulse to overspend (rather than save) after getting a new job, a bonus or a raise in Money Magazine’s “The Psychological Trap That Could Quietly Kill Your Retirement,” and how to deal with the anxiety and stress of traveling in Jetsetter’s “6 Expert Tips For  Beating Travel Stress and Hacking Vacation Mode.” In addition, after spending the holidays with family, many adult children struggle with how to speak to their parents about their unhealthy habits, while avoiding being disrespectful. Matt shared some tips on how to best approach parents with advice in Well+Good.

On the Tribeca Therapy blog, Matt also published several pieces, such as a post about “The Power of Being Done,” based on the strength he sees in being over it. In order to acknowledge the beauty of being done and leaving painful crap behind, whether a bad job, a so-so relationship, a toxic parent or just this president, Matt listed ten ways to be over it. Another post explored the work of vulnerability. Titled “Vulnerability Isn’t An Abstraction: It’s Something You Build,” Matt discussed how we build vulnerability and trust with certain safe people, rather than understanding vulnerability in the abstract as is more common. And reflecting on 2018 for the New Year, Matt joined some of the other therapists on staff at Tribeca Therapy for a collective conversation about the complexity of doing couples therapy during the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018.
