Last Friday, October 26, Matt and fellow Tribeca Therapy staff psychotherapist Nora Dankner hosted a professional development with preschool teachers at Reade Street Prep, a well-regarded Tribeca fixture that offers preschool education and early childhood tutoring. In the professional development, Matt and Nora used therapy skills, such as different ways of listening and accepting offers, even and especially ones we don’t like, to help teachers build skills at creating conversations with kids, parents and colleagues. Matt and Nora also introduced teachers to techniques from art therapy and drama therapy, including activities from Matt’s book Unscripted Learning, which can be useful for translating the skills of therapy into everyday life and especially the classroom. While Matt and Tribeca Therapy as a whole have been friendly with Reade Street Prep for some time, as with many local Tribeca schools, Friday marked the first time Matt has worked with them directly and he is looking forward to doing so more in the future.
